CEC Committee & Section Subcommittees
For many years, SAC’s experts have represented the sign industry on the code-making subcommittees that oversee these electric sign standards. SAC members have representation on Section 34 Subcommittee which oversees Signs and Outline Lighting.
The Canadian Electrical Code is a massive 900+ page document that must be reviewed and amended every three years. The CSA Group has established a large stakeholder committee to review and vote on hundreds of amendment proposals relevant to specific sections of the Canadian Electrical Code. Assisting that large committee that oversees the entire CEC are 41 Subcommittees with expertise and interest in specific areas of the CEC.
The Section 34 Subcommittee consists of nine members representing a variety of stakeholders (including enforcing authorities, inspectors, manufacturers, research/testing laboratories, utilities, etc.)
Current members of the Section 34 Subcommittee include Devin Froese (Seventy-Seven Signs; Saskatoon, SK), Larry Catton (Acme Design Service; Belle River, ON), and Faiek Dabiet (Allanson International; Markham, ON).
SAC’s involvement keeps the sign industry’s best interests in mind—smoothing out challenges to improve the codes thereby speeding up work by preventing hassles for the industry.
