
Important Update: Changes to Prescription Drug Coverage Under Group Benefits Plans
With Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, and British Columbia signing on to the new National Pharmacare Program, members in these provinces may see changes to their group benefits drug coverage.
As of each province’s implementation date, certain medications—such as contraceptives, diabetes drugs, and hormone therapy—will be covered through provincial healthcare, not your group benefits plan. In most cases, no action is needed; pharmacies will bill the province directly. However, some medications may now require prior authorization, and coverage may be delayed until approval is received.
