City of Toronto – New Declaration Form Required for Sign Permit Applications
The City of Toronto has introduced a new declaration form that must be submitted with all First Party and Third-Party Sign Permit Applications.
This requirement applies to any permit involving a new building or an addition to a building, including signs. The declaration ensures that designers verify sufficient clearance from electrical conductors, as outlined in the Ontario Building Code, Section 3.15.5.2.(4):
“A sign shall not be located in proximity to existing above-ground electrical conductors unless it meets the clearance requirements of Article 3.1.20.1.”
The Declaration for Overhead Electrical Conductors Form must be included when submitting your permit application. Applications will not be accepted without it.
Access the new form here: Declaration for Overhead Electrical Conductors (PDF). For questions, please contact the City of Toronto Express Services Team at expressservices@toronto.ca.
