City of Edmonton is currently reviewing its Digital Sign Bylaws. The initial proposed amendments were presented at the Urban Planning Committee earlier in March, 2018. At the meeting, Committee members requested that the planners speak further with stakeholders in order to better understand the significance and potential impact of these proposed changes.
A new stakeholder consultation has been scheduled for Friday, April 6th from 2 to 4pm at the Edmonton City Hall. As the discussion is limited only to 50 people, if you are interested in participating, you will have to RSVP.
The purpose of the meeting is for the industry to provide further insight about the specific changes to sign rules that the City is proposing to improve the functionality and readability of sign regulations. This discussion will not cover temporary or portable signs as there are no proposed changes to how these signs are regulated at this time.
It is also important to note that this conversation will be targeted at the specific Zoning Bylaw changes highlighted in the March report. The city recognizes that there are many changes that may be needed to sign regulations but these will be discussed at a later stage.
